Music shows in Atlantic City are fairly common. However, the Rat Pack is Back takes tribute and music shows to a whole new level in Atlantic City.

The Rat Pack is Back is a seventy minute musical in Atlantic City that pays tribute to Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Frank Sinatra.

The entertainment icons have influenced modern entertainment which shows in this Atlantic City musical that is often comedic in nature.

The Rat Pack is Back is set in the 1960’s in Las Vegas when these four icons were on top of the world.

This Atlantic City musical is the first of its kind to include Joey Bishop. Bishop was a comedian and friend of show creator  who wrote the comedy pieces for the original Rat Pack.

The Rat Pack is Back is a representation of a show performed by the original Rat Pack. However, modern inferences are thrown in such as comments about Viagra.

The main idea of this Atlantic City musical is that Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, and Dean Martin are creating too much havoc in heaven.

God decided that it would be best to send these four entertainers back to Earth. While on Earth, the four give one last performance.

To keep the script as accurate as possible, the creator of The Rat Pack is Back consulted with George Levine. Levine was the captain for 40 year in the Copa Room where the Rat Pack performed. Levine claims to have seen all of the shows the Rat Pack performed in that particular room.

In The Rat Pack is Back, Sammy Davis Jr. is played by Kenny Jones. He is a wonderful actor who brings authenticity to the cast of this Atlantic City musical.

Jones plays the drums and performs a soft shoe routine. However, Jones does not tap dance during The Rat Pack is Back as Sammy Davis Jr. did back in his day.

Dean Martin is played by Johnny Edwards in this tribute show. Although Edwards does not resemble Martin physically, he does well imitating Martin’s voice during The Rat Pack is Back.

Frank Sinatra is played by Brian Duprey. He does not look at all like Frank Sinatra, but again is capable of imitating Sinatra’s vocals.

Joey Bishop is played by Sandy Hackett who created The Rat Pack is Back. Bishop is a friend of Hackett. Hackett wanted to create a show that would include Bishop’s contributions to the original Rat Pack. He is adept at conveying the comedian and his background role in this musical show in Atlantic City. However, look for Hackett to replace himself in the coming shows with talented comedian Dennis Blair.

Even though most of the actors do not resemble the original Rat Pack, the cast performs their antics well. Those who see this Atlantic City musical will come away with a feel for the aura of the Rat Pack and their camaraderie.

Those who attend this musical in Atlantic City will be treated to a live 12-piece band. This aspect of the Rat Pack is Back is also original as most other tribute shows are accompanied by a smaller band or soundtrack.

In keeping with the original Rat Pack, the cast of The Rat Pack is Back interacts with this 12-piece band. Hackett felt as if this aspect of the Rat Pack’s shows must be kept intact.

While in Atlantic City, be sure to The Rat Pack is Back. This musical that pays tribute to four legendary entertainers is a delight to see.
