Everyone loves dolphins. They are intelligent mammals that may be next to us humans in intelligence and understanding. They have a warm, friendly manner, and seem to enjoy the company of people. In fact, their therapeutic value and calming effect for those privileged enough to have been able to swim with them, while perhaps not scientifically proven, certainly has a well-established anecdotal acceptance.
New Jersey has a number of marine mammal adventure cruises available, and the Dolphin Watching Cruise ocean tour in Atlantic City certainly ranks among the best. Glowing articles full of praise about the cruise have featured in such luminary national newspapers as the Philadelphia Inquirer and the New York Times. Other media outlets, such as the New Jersey Outdoors and The Atlantic City Press have also featured articles on the Dolphin Watching Cruise.
Cruisin 1 is Coast Guard certified and regularly inspected vessel. It has a passenger carrying capacity of 150 persons. The boat, naturally, has outdoor areas where passengers can seek out the dolphins and whales and other marine animals and bird life that happen to come along. There are also indoor enclosed areas housing a bar and a galley where passengers can replenish themselves with food and drinks. Inevitably, there is also a small gift and souvenir selection of items available.
The Cape May Whale Watcher is another vessel that, in addition to whale watching, also has a two-hour dolphin watching cruise. The cruises are usually seasonal between June and October and are quite suitable for people of all ages. This makes it an excellent family activity in Atlantic City.
When dealing with any kind of animal watching, it is impossible to guarantee that any set number of them will be seen. In fact, it is impossible to guarantee that any will be seen at all! However, the Dolphin Watching Cruise from Atlantic City always manages to excite and satisfy those who go on it. Sometimes there are dozens and dozens of dolphins to be seen. At other times there may be only a handful of these beautiful mammals leaping high above the water's surface. But it is rare indeed to the point of almost never that there are none to be seen at all.
Of course, it's not just dolphins that those taking part in the cruises will see. This is the wild ocean, and it's the natural habitat of whichever creature of the deep chooses to come along. So you may see hump-backed whales, fin whales as well as the whole range of sea birds that normally inhabit the eastern seaboard. You will see dolphins too. They will be leaping on either side of the boat, coming high out of the water to expose their entire bodies before crashing back into the watery depths.
It is this exciting, adrenalin flooding sight that brings the visitors in flocks to the Dolphin Watching Cruises in Atlantic City, New Jersey year after year. Learn about these elusive mammals from the commentaries onboard delivered by marine naturalist experts, and marvel at the sheer beauty of animal diversity that lies mostly hidden beneath the ocean's depths.
