Rajkot is a bustling and prosperous town of Gujarat, of great historical significance. It was once the princely capital of Saurashtra; even the British too made it their headquarters. It was founded by the Rajput Chief Kunwar Vibhuji in the 16th century. Today, Rajkot is hub of Gujrat handicrafts, such as, Bandhani Sarees, mirror-work, patch work, bead work and silk embroidery.

The family home of Mahatma Gandhi, Kaba Gandhi No Delo, is located in Rajkot and thus is a must see in the town. Gandhiji lived here in his childhood. The place now holds a exhibition on his life and important works. Other place to see is the Watson Museum and Library, located in Jubilee Gardens. It was built to commemorate the work of British Colonel John Watson.
