Lion Exhibit - MGM Grand |
Published On: Mar 07, 2006 Lion Exhibit - MGM Grand
3799 Las Vegas Blvd, South
Las Vegas, NV 89109
While many still consider Elvis to be the king of Vegas, there is a new challenger to the throne and this challenger is known as the king of the jungle. Situated safely in the heart of the MGM Grand lies it's Lion Exhibit.
Guests can come eye to mane with these majestic creatures with a thin piece of glass between them. Visitors get the chance to watch the lions eat, sleep and play 24 hours a day as the 31 lions are rotated in and out every six hours. Guests can also gain some little known facts about the animals as informational placards are placed along the exhibit.
Of course being on display isn't the entire life of the lions. When they aren't on display, they get to live the high life on an eight acre ranch located outside of Vegas. Here the lions are given baths and their manes are blown dry before making their way back to the hotel.
While the action at the exhibit can be a little slow at times, trainers are always on hand to give out information and make presentations. For those that time their trip just at the right time, they can catch a glimpse of the trainers actually engaging in some playtime with the big felines.
While you may not be able to take one of these loveable eight foot long, 500 pounds of fur home, you can stop by the gift shop and take home a much more reasonably priced and sized replica or T-shirt.
