Much like a modern day Hodini, David Copperfield has proven to be able to capture the minds and imaginations of his audiences through not only his superior magical abilities, but also through his charisma and showmanship.
Audience interaction is where Copperfield has placed the emphasis of his act. He takes the time to not only greet his audience and ask questions while pulling them up on stage, he often gives insight into his own life and what led him to become a magician. Audience member s are often worked into the act as Copperfield pulls them up on stage to do a variety of things, whether it be testing locks, drawing diagrams or picking cards out of a deck. While many critics say that Copperfield's guests are planted in the audience, the magician rebukes that by assuring that each guest is chosen by a stroke of luck. He doesn't choose who gets to come up on stage, random Frisbees or balls tossed out into the audience get to make the final say. So polish up on your catching skills and you might find yourself up on stage with doves coming out of your sleeves.
Of course no magic act would be complete without a big finishing act and nobody does it better than Copperfield. Whether it be walking through the Great Wall of China, floating high above the audience or making the Statue of Liberty vanish before the audience's eyes, you can be sure that you are in for a night full of magical entertainment. Just remember that the hands are quicker than the eyes.
