James Deering, an agricultural industrialist, had this amazing "palace" built in the style of a self-sufficient Italian villa covering 180 acres. Designers spent seven years creating the gardens and the total effort employed the services of over 1,000 workmen at a time when Miami's population was a mere 10,000. Miami-Dade County now operates the estate as a public museum. |

Gators and snakes are the main attractions at Gator Park in the Florida Everglades. But, turtles, macaws, peacocks, and fish, are also important parts of this airboat tour.
