The Coral Castle, located in Homestead, Florida about 40 miles southwest of Miami, is one of the most enigmatic structures in the entire world. Throughout the 1920's and into the 1940's, Edward Leedskalnin worked alone to create this incredible piece of architecture. During construction he single-handedly moved and implemented huge blocks of coral - many of which weighed between five and 30 tons.
Theory implies that he was able to manipulate gravity by the use of levitation. How else could a man who was a 100 pounds and barely five feet tall lift and move such massive blocks? Even more mysterious, the castle does not stand in its original location. The legend states that Leedskalnin feared that developers would overtake his land so he disassembled and moved the entire castle to the town of Homestead. Others speculate the castle was moved to benefit from a more precise "energy vortex." A location on Earth where it is thought gravity can be defied through terrestrial currents.
In order to carry out the move Leedskalnin had to rent a tractor. His only request was that the driver was not there when he moved the humongous blocks. So the driver would leave in the morning and return in the afternoon and sure enough the coral blocks where on the truck. The only equipment Leedskalnin used was a manual tackle and hoist. Not even a bulldozer can lift 30-ton blocks.
Did Edward Leedskalnin master the art of levitation; the presumed methods used by the Egyptians to create the pyramids? Was his series of pulleys enough to perfectly move such gargantuan blocks? To this day it is still unknown how Leedskalnin built the Coral Castle, with the only true proof being the phenomenal structure itself.

These days you can walk through the Coral Castle and listen to an audio tour for a small fee. It's one thing to read about this incredible structure, but walking through, knowing that it was built by one man with primitive tools or perhaps a mysterious force, is truly a profound experience. If you get the chance to venture outside of Miami for day - a trip to the Coral Castle is well worth it.
