Union Square/Murray Hill Hotels.
|
| Union Square/Murray Hill, Gramercy, and the Flatiron District are all close together and often spoken of as a single entity. Union Square is sometimes called the heart
of Off-Broadway because of the concentration of theaters. Small, private Gramercy Park requires a key since it is strictly for the use of local residents. If you are fortunate enough to
know someone who lives in the area, you will find a number of historic statues amongst the rich greenery. The many trendy restaurants on Park Avenue South are a major attraction for those
who like to eat. The Greenmarket in Union Square is a very popular open-air farmers market; check the schedule as it's not open every day (at press time: open M,W,F,Sat). The Flatiron
Building on 23rd and Broadway is so-called because when it was built in 1902 the 20 story triangular shape reminded people of the flat irons used at the time. The Union Square/Murray
Hill neighborhood of Manhattan: a great place to visit.
