Zanzibar in New York |
Published On: Dec 26, 2006
Zanzibar in New York is a world famous restaurant that lives in the city that never sleeps. Serving Mediterranean food and exotic cocktails the New York based restaurant is known for being hip, cool, relaxing and most of all mysterious.
It is the later that has been the reason why Zanzibar has seen over 1 million people walk through its doors since it opened. That and that the fact that almost every credible source in New York singes its praises, from the New York Times, Time Out, the New York Post and even the highly critical Javit's Guide has something positive to say.
Quotes suggest that Zanzibar is the epicenter of cool youth in New York. The eatery and club has even appeared in songs about youth culture, and in the political satire by Tenacious D. From 21 onwards, any person living in New York simply has to visit Zanzibar if they want to create the right impression.
The pub/club/eatery and so much more has also seen great expansion plans mark its potential future. The US equity finance group Blue Sword has made a proposal that would see Zanzibar increase its capacity by nearly 300% over the next few years.
Zanzibar is famously associated with a tortoise style figure which is meant to depict the laid back atmosphere that you can experience inside. This is somewhat different from the connotations of an up-market restaurant that can be seen from a glimpse inside.
Based in Manhattan the cocktail bar can serve up more than 85 different drinks, ensuring that everyone can be satisfied, even those who prefer not to indulge in the alcoholic variety. Zanzibar may be cool however the pricing certainly is not! At over $10 to buy anything Zanzibar is for those who want to treat themselves, or those that can afford it.
Despite this, Zanzibar does have a happy hour, where many say that you can be sure to get a drink "no problem" due to strict reservation criteria which means the place is never to full to take away from the personal service they aim to provide. Zanzibar is open 7 days a week from 1700 hours until you are able to stay awake! You can be sure to enjoy the atmosphere through Zanzibar's unique ability to make the night, whatever you want it to be.
With television screens, dancing and good food you are bound to find what you want at Zanzibar. If you are visiting New York and you truly want to experience the culture of contemporary American life then be sure to stop on off at Zanzibar.
