Weather in New Orleans

New Orleans weather is generally mild in the winters, but the weather in New Orleans is most known for the hot and humid summers. Located near several bodies of water including the Mississippi River and fairly close to the gulf of Mexico, the humid subtropic climate is not without noting. Generally speaking the winter - early spring are the best times to visit New Orleans. As many people recall from Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans often gets tropical storms and can get hurricanes, so it is best to plan around hurricane season (later summer - fall).
