| If you are planning a trip to Reno you probably already know that Reno is known as “The Biggest Little City in the World.” What you might not know is that Reno is also known as “America’s
Adventure Place.” From exciting and entertaining Las Vegas style hotels and casinos to innumerable ground and air outdoor activities, Reno does live up to both slogans.
When you come to Reno you’ll want to stay in the resort that has one of the top ten casinos in America in it – The Peppermill. The Peppermill alone has eight
restaurants and fourteen distinct themed bars. But you don’t have to eat in a restaurant in your hotel when staying in Reno. Reno / Lake Tahoe Discount Hotel Reservations can put you in heavenly places at earthly rates. If you want to get out and see the town you should eat at one of the
numerous restaurants that fill the city. One restaurant worth visiting is Famous Murphy’s, located just south from The Peppermill on South Virginia Street.
Even further south on South Virginia Street is the restaurant The Liberty Belle. This restaurant is located inside the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and boasts
about their antique slot museum. If those two restaurants are not your cup of tea then you should probably go north of The Peppermill to Downtown Reno, where you will
find all the hotels, casinos, and clubs for a slamming night out on the town.
For some excitement during the day you can go to the Reno-Fernley Raceway. The raceway has tons of opportunities for family fun like paintball
and picnic grounds, and a shooting range for the adults. There is more than one track at his raceway and car races are held seasonally. During the month of June each year the
Reno Rodeo is in session where you can see such fun events as Bareback, Steer Wrestling, Saddle Bronc, Team Roping, Tie-Down Roping, Mutton
Bustin’, and Double Mugging. Another annual event is The Great Reno Balloon Race, scheduled during the first Friday through Sunday after Labor Day.
The event begins before sun rise so this one is only for the early birds!
For the more artistic person, Reno offers enjoyment in the arts as well. There are a variety of art shows, from dance to musical theatre to museum collections,
through out the city. The Reno Film Festival holds themed film festivals through out the year. They have had such film festival titles in the past as Lumiere
Student Fest and Fall Film Benefit. The Tahoe/Reno International Film Festival holds an annual film festival for independent film makers from all over the world.
Reno also has a professionally talented orchestra, The Reno Philharmonic, who is sure to put on a breath taking performance.
Reno is a short drive from Lake Tahoe and Carson City, however there is an airport in Reno if you are coming from farther away. The city itself relies very much on
outside tourism. Most people are drawn to Reno because of the hotels and casinos; however there is a University in Reno and the real estate is always great for families looking
to relocate. There is also a large Indian colony in Reno. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony is a federally recognized Indian tribe. The Reno-Sparks Indians reservation land
consists of a residential colony in the downtown area of Reno, and other land in a more rural area north of down town Reno.
Whatever your reason for visiting Reno do not let “The Biggest Little City in the World” overwhelm you.
