Who says you have to spend a lot of money to stay in a luxury style hotel? That is most certainly not the case with the Kona Kai Resort.
Rising above the marina on Shelter Island, this tropical paradise glitters like a star in the night sky. Staring from enjoying the sun's warm golden rays as you lay out on the white sandy beach all the way to having your tension melted away underneath the hands of a masseuse, the Kona Kai Resort allows its guests to pursue the best that life has to offer.
With such beautiful surroundings it should come as no surprise that outdoor activities are the norm at the hotel. The outdoor pool area can be quite crowded with those frolicking in the pool, lounging around catching a tan or just relaxing in the hot tub. If poolside isn't for you then maybe you would feel more comfortable out on the sand volleyball court or renting a bike and exploring the eight acre property.
Of course most people are going to want to get out and do a little sightseeing. That is where the central location of the hotel comes in handy. SeaWorld and Seaport Village are just six miles away while the Gaslamp District and downtown San Diego are a mere seven miles away.
The resort's 129 guestrooms are located in two buildings, each one coming with its own entrance. The rooms boast the same tropical theme that can be found throughout the hotel itself. Each one comes complete with cable TV, wireless Internet and waffle-weave bathrobes.
For those that weren't able to make the trip to Hawaii or some other deserted island for their vacation, the Kona Kai Resort is a nice second choice.
