San Francisco, the City by the Bay, has a long and colorful history. Earthquakes, fires, student protests, hippies, hearts left there, and alternative lifestyles are just some of the many interesting events from the past. Yet, when most people think of San Francisco, they think of the many tourist attractions: antique cable cars, Chinatown, the Victorian architecture of both private homes and many of the city's hotels, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Fisherman's Wharf. As business travelers know, however, there is also a very energized Financial District. Hotels like the Omni San Francisco or Hotel Vitale cater to the business traveler. Sports fans are no doubt familiar with Monster Park (a.k.a. Candlestick Park), and SBC Park. A wonderful mixture of neighborhoods accommodate the quite eclectic mix of cultures, ethnicities, incomes, and lifestyles that makes the city so fascinating. But enough about the many reasons why someone might want to visit. The following pages are specifically designed to assist you with lodging and some of the other necessities and diversions you might need or want to explore, depending on the purpose of your visit. Restaurants are something every visitor needs to find out about, especially since new ones seem to pop up constantly, so we have some helpful information on that topic. Attractions may be the purpose of your visit if you are here to do some sightseeing. You might want to take a tour. Or you may want to look for something to do after the day's business has concluded. We've put together a wealth of information to help you find exactly what you're looking for in San Francisco. |
