San Francisco Gay Friendly Hotels |
| San Francisco gay friendly hotels are everywhere in the city. Still, there are neighborhoods especially accommodating to the gay and lesbian communities.
SoMa (South of Market Street) is one such area. Years ago SoMa was a warehouse district, but, over time, dot com companies, museums, art galleries, quaint boutique hotels,
and popular eateries began to change its flavor. A casual walk through the neighborhood will find blocks of empty warehouses interspersed with regions of intense activity:
lines of well-dressed people waiting to get into a hot nightspot, the clatter of dishes and the murmur of voices engaged in animated conversation at a popular restaurant.
If you're going to SoMa, the place to start is Eleventh and Folsom. As wonderful as SoMa is, the heart of the gay community is the Castro District. Arguably the center of
gay life on the west coast, the Castro District has a long and colorful history. The historic Twin Peaks bar is a must see stop in part because of its large windows, and
the Castro Theater's Wurlitzer Organ is a blast from the past. Having said all that, San Francisco gay friendly hotels can be found throughout the city.
