| In the winter Taos ski resorts are packed with outdoor sports enthusiasts and we have a summary and several links to resort web sites. The nearest is Taos Ski Valley a 20 mile drive north of Taos. This is the most popular winter resort. Alas, there is no snowboarding allowed. Fortunately, all the other resorts with downhill skiing welcome riders. Sipapu Ski Resort is also close to Taos and offers a great family environment. Two ski areas – the Red River Ski & Ride Area and the Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski Area – are located on the far side of "The Enchanted Circle." Finally, Angel Fire Resort is 27 miles from Taos to the southeast and features trails for skiers, riders, and gliders. Taos Ski Valley
Known for its arts community and beautiful landscape, Taos is also home to superb winter conditions and alpine skiing. If you're not an advanced skier, no problem, because you can take lessons and join various ski camps like those at the Ernie Blake Ski School. Instead of watching your friends take the mountain, you'll be joining them and experiencing the fun as well. |
